The Gate House Niagara-on-the-Lake

The Gate House is one of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s most iconic and cherished landmarks. Since becoming a part of 124 on Queen Hotel and Spa in the Spring of 2019, it has become an ideal spot for Niagara-on-the-Lake weddings and events. Idyllically situated on Queen Street, the beautiful property overlooks Old Town and is only a short walk from the lake.

The venue incorporates bright floor-to-ceiling windows throughout an open-concept dining room and can host up to 140 guests. It also includes a large outdoor patio on Queen Street, ten guestrooms (that are a part of 124 on Queen Hotel and Spa), a commercial bar and a commercial kitchen. All combined to make for one of the top wedding and event spaces in Niagara-on-the-Lake!

The Gate House History

The 300-year-old building is truly a historic treasure. From surviving The War of 1812 to hosting the first Law Society Of Upper Canada session, The Gate House is a stunning nod to The Enlightenment Era, featuring ideal proportions and geometric forms.

Although most of the original building was destroyed by a fire in 1849, The Gate House showcases several aspects of the original building, including the beautifully restored original stonework throughout the dining. In fact, one of the stone walls that was originally the exterior wall has an actual horse hitch, still intact from the 1700’s!
