Our Zen Garden: A Peaceful Part of Your Stay at 124 on Queen

When guests think about a stay with us, they often picture the walkable charm of Queen Street, beautiful rooms, and time at Spa at Q. We love all of that too. But one of the most special parts of the experience is sometimes the quietest one, our guest-exclusive Zen Garden. If you are looking for a Niagara on the Lake Hotel that gives you space to truly slow down, this is one of the reasons so many guests return.

Tucked behind our property, the Zen Garden was completed in summer 2023 and created as a peaceful place for guests to sit back, relax, and enjoy the moment. It is open until 11:00 p.m., which makes it just as lovely for a quiet morning coffee as it is for an evening wind-down after dinner or a show.

A Peaceful Base for Exploring Niagara-on-the-Lake

One of the reasons the Zen Garden matters so much is where it fits into the rhythm of a Niagara-on-the-Lake stay. As Destination Ontario highlights in its Niagara-on-the-Lake guide, the town is known for wine country experiences, outdoor activities, and historic charm, which means many guests want a home base that feels both central and restorative.

That balance is exactly what we aim to offer. From our Queen Street location, guests can enjoy the energy of town, then come back and reset in a quieter setting. It is one of the simplest ways to make a short getaway feel longer and more relaxing.

What We Have Learned from Our Own Guest Getaway Guides

In our spring events in Niagara-on-the-Lake guide, we talk about how the season blends wine tours, theatre, artisan markets, and wellness experiences. That kind of itinerary is fun, but it can also be full. The Zen Garden gives guests a place to pause between outings instead of rushing from one activity to the next.

A Natural Extension of the Spa and Wellness Experience

For many guests, the Zen Garden works beautifully alongside time at Spa at Q. Our amenities include a 12,000-square-foot spa experience, and the hydrotherapy circuit features warm and cool pools, a sauna, a steam room, and the only snow room in Canada. After that kind of reset, stepping into the garden feels like a natural continuation of the day.

Even without a spa appointment, the feeling is similar. A quiet seat, fresh air, and a slower pace can change the mood of a trip in a very real way. The Canadian Psychological Association notes that even short periods of nature exposure can help reduce stress and improve mood, which is one reason these calm outdoor moments matter more than people expect.

More Than Beautiful, Thoughtfully Designed

The Zen Garden is also meaningful to us because it reflects how we think about the property overall. On our expansion page, we share that what looks like a beautiful garden is also an extensive green roof built above our underground parking garage, with local plants and trees, plus stormwater collection and redistribution that supports the garden itself.

On our values page, we also highlight native pollinator species across the property and two beehives in the Zen Garden to support local plant life. It is a peaceful space for guests, and it is also part of a broader commitment to sustainability and caring for the place we call home.

Planning a Relaxing Stay in NOTL

If it has been a while since your last visit, consider this your reminder that some of the best moments here are the ones you do not schedule too tightly. A morning Starbucks. A quiet seat in the garden. A glass of wine after dinner. A little extra time before heading back out.

When you are ready to plan your next escape, explore our Accommodations NOTL and browse our packages and specials to build the kind of stay that gives you room to relax, explore, and enjoy Niagara-on-the-Lake at your own pace.
